Calculating the perimeter of compound shapes is similar to working out the perimeter of simple shapes, you just need to add together the length of each side.
To find the perimeter of compound shapes you may need to work out the perimeter of different shapes such as rectangles, triangles, parallelograms and trapeziums by calculating any missing lengths by adding and subtracting the other sides.
Side lengths and missing side lengths can be whole numbers, fractions or decimals and so the perimeter may require rounding to a given number of significant figures.
Looking forward, students can then progress to additional Geometry worksheets, for example a Arcs and sectors worksheet or a Circumference of a circle worksheet.
